This coming Saturday is the 50th Anniversary of the Ibrox Disaster - a terrible day when five lads from the village where we now live went to a football match and never came back. Sixty six fans died that day, but the five lads from Markinch were schoolboy friends and all lived in two adjoining roads a stone's throw from each other. We didn't live in Markinch at the time, but I have driven past the memorial to them most days for the past 20 years. These are a couple of pieces about it - one an extract from a BBC documentary aired last night, the other a long read.
