An Evening with Spurs' own Peter Taylor and Terry Naylor in Maidstone
17/05/2024 @ 19:30

EVENT DESCRIPTION

Join us at Bearsted Golf Club, Maidstone, on Friday 17th May 2024, for a brilliant evening with Peter Taylor and Terry Naylor

Peter Taylor joined Crystal Palace from Southend when then manager Malcolm Allison signed him in October 1973 for £110,000. Palace were relegated at the end of that season, but Peter was named Player of the Year and remained at the club for two further seasons, becoming player of the year again in 1976. In the 1975–76 season, Third Division Palace reached the FA Cup semi-final, with Peter scoring two goals in the 5th round in a 3–2 away win at Chelsea.

Peter also made four appearances for the full England team, scoring twice, becoming one of the very few players to play for England whilst at a club outside the top two divisions.

The Palace FA Cup run was not followed by promotion however, and at the end of the season Allison resigned and was replaced by Terry Venables, who allowed Peter to leave for Spurs in September 1976 for a fee of £400,000.

Peter scored on his Tottenham debut in a 4–2 defeat at The Hawthorns to West Bromwich Albion, but had a mixed career at Spurs with the club suffering relegation in 1977 to Division Two but being promoted back to Division One in 1978. In 1980, Peter moved on to Leyton Orient, having made 123 appearances for Tottenham during which he scored 31 times.

Terry Naylor played well over three hundred games for Spurs, and is a legend among Tottenham supporters, experiencing the highs of cup victories and the lows of relegation – before going on to help Charlton win promotion in the Eighties.

Terry joined Spurs in July 1969 but was previously employed as a meat porter at London's Smithfield Market, and his tough, uncompromising style of play as a full back soon earned him the nickname of "Meathook" with the fans.

Terry featured in both legs of the 1974 UEFA Cup Final against Feyenoord and was an unused substitute in both legs of the 1972 UEFA Cup Final against Wolves.

Terry joined Charlton Athletic in November 1980 and went on to make 69 League appearances for the club.

The evening will initially consist of Peter and Terry sharing with you stories about their lives and careers at White Hart Lane and beyond, as well as no doubt their views on the current Spurs team and their prospects.

After a short break, Peter and Terry will take questions from the floor for the rest of the evening.

Doors open for Standard tickets at 7.00pm for 7.30pm, with a limited number of VIP tickets available for early access from 6.00pm for a pre-event glass of fizz and a mingle, meet and greet with Peter and Terry.
